10 million returned gifts end up in landfills yearly. Companies encourage the purchase of new products, since it’s more profitable than rechecking, repacking, and reshipping old products.
THE IDEA
Philips creates Refurb Editions. A range consisting of ONLY returned and refurbished products.
On Earth Day, Philips blocked their website from selling new products. To spread awareness, we also piled returned gifts as an AR installation in key markets like Berlin. Turning possible landfills into an interactive digital store in which you could buy refurb.
